My work investigates the interconnections between humanity and the natural world, focusing on what unites us and exposing, through viewer participation, the forces that threaten to divide us. Although my work speaks to the present moment, it is grounded in personal experience. I draw from memory, loss, and discovery to create immersive, multi-sensory productions that challenge perception, invite reflection, and aim for transformation.
My journey of reconnection began with a reunion with my mother, brother, and grandparents, from whom I had been separated as a child. That early disconnection sparked lifelong questions about belonging and relationships. A second turning point came years later, when I experienced a rapid loss of hearing. As my daughter studied birds, I tried to listen to their calls, which had once fascinated me as a child, and later had been lost in the dissonance of urban noise and silence. Her passion for ornithology and my eventual use of hearing aids helped me rediscover the birdsong I thought I had lost. That moment was transformative and reignited my curiosity about sensory perception, awareness, and ecological responsibility. It became a catalyst for my artistic inquiry.
I work across multiple media, including painting, sculpture, found and living materials, video, and interactive sound to create layered experiences that engage audiences on many levels. In Reawaken, I compose artistic productions where soundscapes shift from harmony to chaos, reflecting the delicate balance between natural systems and human disruption. I use found objects, recycled materials, and adaptive lighting that respond to the viewer’s presence, emphasizing the interconnectedness of all living systems.
Sustainability and environmental awareness are central to my practice. I repurpose industrial and natural materials to explore the contrast between artificial and organic forms. Through this interplay, my work raises important questions about relationships, boundaries, and our role in the human ecology. By encouraging viewers to pause, listen, and reconsider their surroundings, I hope to offer a renewed sense of presence and an invitation to reengage with the world around them. At its core, my work calls for reconnection with ourselves, each other, and the ecosystems that sustain life. I believe transformation is possible through art, curiosity, and the willingness to ask meaningful questions.
